Devastating Storms Batter South and Ohio Valley
Severe Weather Claims Lives, Causes Injuries and Widespread Damage
At least one person was killed and another injured in southern Indiana on Sunday when storms battered parts of the South and the Ohio River Valley. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touched down in Decatur County, Indiana, causing significant damage to homes and businesses.
Tragic Loss in Indiana
According to local officials, a 65-year-old man was killed when a tornado struck his home in Westport, Indiana. His wife, who was also in the home at the time, was injured and taken to a local hospital. The couple's home was completely destroyed in the storm.
Local emergency responders are currently assessing the damage and providing assistance to those affected. The NWS has issued a tornado warning for other areas in Indiana, as well as parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.
