Early Life and Education
Ben Carson Sr. was born on September 18, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan. He received his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1973 and his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1977.
Neurosurgical Career
Carson became renowned for his groundbreaking work in neurosurgery. In 1987, he performed the first successful separation of two conjoined twins who were attached at the head. He also developed new surgical techniques to treat complex neurological conditions.
Political Career
Carson entered politics in 2015 when he ran for the Republican presidential nomination. He did not win the nomination, but he served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021.
